PawPaw and Mammaw were at our house for Thanksgiving this year. It was so good having them here with all the kids home. We divided up the cooking with our next door neighbors and had a great big Thanksgiving feast! We were given a gorgeous Thanksgiving Day so after eating the guys all took turns riding Trey and Joseph’s motorcycles. This was a very happy and yet reflective Thanksgiving considering the despair we felt last year. All I can say is that a lot of hard work, time, asking how one is truly feeling and coping, prayer upon prayer and a special therapy dog born as all we loved was spiraling out of control has gotten us to this Thanksgiving and we are immensely grateful to be here together.
May the God of Hope fill you with all Joy and Peace as you trust in Him. Romans 15:13
You might not be able to tell right away but Gayley did not want to wear this adorable pumpkin dress. We didn’t make it to the pumpkin patch this year and I knew she wouldn’t be able to wear it next year so I enthusiastically dressed her trying to rally her into liking it. Did not work. I have figured out she does not like wearing cloths with fruit or vegetables on them. Anyways I thought she looked darling and that her teachers would too so away we went to school.
Can we say Prissy Pilgrim?! Gayley is all about getting up on the big stage and isn’t shy at all when it comes to performing. She has been singing her sweet little Thanksgiving songs in the house, while playing, outside or in the car for weeks. She loves doing the hand motions and is so charismatic! Aren’t they just the cutest little pilgrims you’ve ever seen? Not only did they learn their songs and motions but they have also been very busy creating LOTS of Fall and Thanksgiving artwork. We say, “Thank you God for letting her go to such a wonderful preschool”!
For Halloween this year my work family dressed up like all the characters in the Baby Shark song. It’s an insanely popular song that all of our patients know and love. We had so much fun doing it! Miss Madeline was Baby Shark, Hollie was Mommy Shark, Dr. Jeff was Daddy Shark, I was Grandma Shark and Alisa played Grandpa Shark. I loved being Grandma Shark and drew my inspiration from Thelma “Mama” Harper of Mama’s Family. It’s one of my favorite shows starring Vickie Lawrence as Thelma aka “Mama” and Carol Burnett as her daughter Eunice and Betty White as her other daughter Ellen. Alisa and I had a hoot playing Grandma and Grandpa! I think our patients and their parents enjoyed our silliness too! Oh we even made a video in one shot! Baby Shark take One!
