Mascara Madness

These two rising cosmeticians went a little heavy handed with the mascara. They are such glamour girls who LOVE makeup, dress-up, glitter and glam at the tiny age of 3 and 5 years old! Gayley and Cameron have become the best of friends and it’s so nice living next door to each other. Note to self: they are good at finding make up I’ve already hidden from them, hide harder & buy pastel kiddie makeup!

Let’s Play

Gayley and her sweet friend Ella Kate had a super fun play date at Let’s Play Indoor playground! These two sweet friends met each other in preschool Turtle class and quickly became inseparable. They absolutely adore one another. Us Mommies arranged for them to have playtime over the summer because they just miss each other so much! They can’t wait for school to start again so they can see each other on a regular basis. It was so good getting these sweeties together again!

Orr Park

While Grammy and cousins Mark and Abby were visiting us we ran over to Orr Park in Montevallo. I had read about it before and I’ve always wanted to go so we took the opportunity to do something new and it did not disappoint!

It’s a marvelous little city park along a creek with beautiful grounds and a butterfly garden and some exquisitely carved tree sculptures. I don’t know who carved in but they are obviously talented artist. Most of the carved trees are along the walking trail but others are not so evident and so you really have to keep your eye out, a bit of hide and seek and you’re always amazed when you spot one, they are just magnificent!

Standing in Wonder

Your Grace Still Amazes Me

My faithful Father, enduring Friend

Your tender mercy’s like a river with no end

It overwhelms me, covers my sin

Each time I come into Your presence

I stand in wonder once again

CHORUS:

Your grace still amazes me

Your love is still a mystery

Each day I fall on my knees

Your grace still amazes me

‘Cause Your grace still amazes me

Oh, patient Saviour, You make me whole

You are the Author and the Healer of my soul

What can I give You, Lord, what can I say

I know there’s no way to repay You

Only to offer You my praise

It’s deeper, it’s wider

It’s stronger, it’s higher

It’s deeper it’s wider

It’s stronger, it’s higher

than anything my eyes can see

‘Cause Your grace still amazes me.

Remembering the life of our first born daughter, Catherine Grace Garrett & how our story was forever changed on June 21, 2001.

Celebrating our Guys

We are so blessed to have great neighbors that are now our good friends too. Since our guys birthdays were just days apart, David’s on June 15 and Trey’s on June 19, Crystal and I treated them to a day at Pursell Farms Orvis 5-stand shooting clays. I can’t tell you how long it’s been since Trey shot clays and this was David’s first time and Crystal’s first time to ever shoot a gun. Even though more clays were missed then shot it was a fun time. After shooting we shopped in the Orvis store and then went for drinks at Tom’s Pub at the Inn. The pub had a great view looking over the golf course and the most comfortable chairs to lounge in. While we waited for our reservation time at the Inns fine dining restaurant we shot pool on Jim Nabors’ pool table and learned more about each other. Our meal at the restaurant was exceptional and the wines Crystal picked were perfect. During our meal Trey looked out the grand window we were sitting in front of an noticed this young gal on the patio. He excused himself and went out to her and then excitedly motion for me to come out, I had no idea who this girl was. Turns out this girl (mid 20’s) is Trey’s old bosses niece whom Trey took to Scotland on a youth mission trip years and years ago. The crazy thing is is that she does not even live here, she lives in Nashville, TN and does amazing flowers for weddings. She had just finished doing a wedding there at Pursell Farms and was on a little break while the wedding party was at the reception. We invited her to come have a glass of wine at our table which she graciously accepted after going to freshen up. We introduced her to our friends Crystal and David and we all had just a splendid time swapping stories of what we were doing now, where kids & siblings were and what everyone was doing. What an unexpected bonus to the night! Our Birthday Boy date turned out perfect! It was so fun celebrating our men and getting to treat and surprise them with everything planned out for them. We are two lucky ladies to have such fabulous husband and best friends.
