Well my nice leisurely day off attending a continuing education seminar at the stunning Grand Bohemian Hotel was abruptly halted when I got a text from the sitter saying that Gayley had a 103.3 temperature. After much texting back-and-forth between our sitter, Trey and I we decided for Trey to go ahead and pick baby girl up and I would meet him at the doctors office. I called her doctor and explained what was going on and they got her right in at 11:00. The crazy thing was that when I dropped her off she was all chipper and fine and then by 8:40 a.m she had a super high fever so Miss Mindy gave her some Motrin. By the time we were taken back to see the doctor she was jumping around and Little Miss chatty self like not sick at all and temp was 99.5-Motrin working! The doctor checked her over and ears clear, did strep test which was negative even with red throat. She had to have a finger pricked to get a blood sample to which it came back super high white blood count so they were thinking bacterial infection so we needed to get a urine sample. Sweet girl had not eaten nor drank anything all morning so she was not able to TT in the potty so we went to step two and she had to have a bag taped onto her and then a diaper hoping she would just TT in the diaper and let the bag collect it, oh that was so much fun ya know since we are in the prime of potty training and she did not want to TT in the diaper!!! During the course of being there her fever spiked again and so the doctor and nurses were able to see that and re-check her temperature which had gone back up to 103 and she was given Tylenol and then later more Motrin later on. To sum it all up we were there from 11 AM till 2 PM and Gayley jumped all over the pain rating scale. She finally got so upset she did wet and they were able to check her urine which came back normal too. The Doctor examined her from head to toe again and this time Gayley was feeling a tad better and even wanted to drink her juice which earlier she had wailed and protested to not drink. So her test will be checked again in morning to see if anything changes and if not then all is well. She will stay on Tylenol/Motrin alternates and we will monitor her. Praying she will drink more and get her appetite back and that this “Fever Virus” as doctor is calling it will leave her sooner than later!!!
Happy happy 18th Birthday Morgan! This Mom wanted to throw a party for her nearly grown son and he humored me by agreeing to it. It ended up being more like a dinner party when kids came early while we were fixing supper but we made plenty of sliders as Morgan requested so it was all good. They ate, went on a joy ride in Trey’s new micro truck, played ping pong and indulged in ice cream and sweet fixings to their delight. It was such a fun night celebrating Morgan with his friends. He’s got a great group for sure! Wish I could photo shop in the three other gals that came later but it would probably look like Michael Scott did it! Lol! We love you Morgan, you are such a gift, blessing and delightful son! Happy Birthday to Pawpaw in MS too! Morgan was born on Pawpaw’s Birthday! We love you both so much!
We all had so much fun celebrating with Asheigh and Austin at their wedding. It was a lovely beautiful barn wedding. Gayley was in her element dancing the night away as well as Jordan! She kept calling Ashleigh “that girl in her dress-she’s a princess!”. It was so much fun spending time with family on such a happy occasion! #firstgrandkidtomarry #cousinlove #ashleigh&austin #barnwedding #sealthedeal #weddingday #bride&groom #husband&wife
Mary and Jordan were invited to their friend, Kayleigh’s 13th Bithday and instead of presents she wanted a donation to be given to Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston. What a sweet girl! I had just read a post about some local twins who wanted to help too and were collecting new underwear for the children in shelters. They have family aiding victims via a church and were told little ones were running around cammando so instead of toys they really needed new undies! The six year old twins decided they wanted to collect 100 packages to send out to the Houston children. So with the Kayleigh Birthday invite and request to help Harvey victims I told Kayleigh’s Mom about the underwear drive right here in our little city and asked if we could give some in honor of Kayleigh’s Birthday wish, she agreed it was a great practice idea. Below is the post the girls’ Mom had put on Facebook and the dozen packs of undies Mary and Jordan gave. Five little girls and five boys plus since we are in the middle of toilet training and I know how helpful these are, 2 packs of thick toddler training pants.
I connected with the girls’ mom (Angie) and told her about Kayleigh’s Birthday wish to help Hurricane Harvey people too and that we wanted to donate in honor of her, where could we meet or drop off the packs? She was so touched by this and offered to come pick them up during the Birthday party so that she and the girls could thank Kayleigh and Mary and Jordan. How thoughtful is that! She said she just knows God is going to use this to bless so many and indeed it already has. As of last count these little six year olds have collected 100 packs of new underwear plus $350 they will spend on more packs! To God be the Glory!
We love our neighbors and loved sipping wine and eating various cheeses and flatbread and so many other hors d’oeuvres with them last night. Thankfully the temperature dropped a bit and made it an enjoyable evening under the stars lit by candles in glass jars and white lights. Trey was the master DJ shuffling Ray Charles and Miles Davis on the boom speakers. We were so touched by some of our neighbors making a point to get back in town from vacation to attend our little shin dig. We missed those that couldn’t make it but thoroughly enjoyed getting to visit with those who came. We definatly need to do this more often. It was a delightful evening!🍷
