Trey has been traveling a lot lately (New York, California, Georgia, Tennessee). It comes in spurts which has its highs and lows. The best part is when I get to go with him! We are so thankful that Pawpaw came up to stay with the kids while I went away with Trey on his business trip to Gatlinburg. It was only a Wednesday to Friday trip but a well welcomed restful time in the beautiful mountains.
We had excellent views from our Park Vista Doubletree balcony. No need to take the incline we were higher than it.
It was so nice sleeping in without dogs pacing throughout the house & their excessive barking, no kids running up and down the stairs and friends ringing the doorbell at entirely too early hours or a toddler yelling, “Mama, please!!!!”as he holds out his empty milk cup. Nope this Mama slept in, peed without an audience, showered and dressed without a hundred knocks on my door and then went to breakfast where I was served and waited on and actually got to eat without disruption. It was delightful!
While Trey had his meetings in the hotel conference rooms I took the trolley to downtown Gatlinburg and did a little window shopping. The only place I really wanted to go was The Village area where there are two Thomas Kinkade galleries. I have my eye on two paintings but with 6 kids, 1 on the way, lacrosse camps and traveling tournaments and having just bought a vehicle for teenage sons the art collecting is frozen. No buying just admiring.
When Trey was done for the day we walked around downtown for awhile before joining his team for dinner. It was at a restaurant and I say that loosely that we never would have picked but its where they had picked that could accommodate our large group. Anyways it was quite an evening of surprises starting off with having a bib tied onto us and then hats placed on our head with quotes scripted by our waitress. The person wearing the hat was the last to know what it said as all other laughed away! It was comical and we all had fun and laughed a bunch but a once in a lifetime event for sure. Really no need to go again, been there, got the hat and bib to prove it!
It was a good trip and good time spent together!
