Past Due

This isn’t any formal family photo or the one we will use for a Holiday card. It’s just because we are way past due for a picture of ALL of us. Apparently our friends and the grandparents want to see Trey and I occasionally !!!!

Homecoming 2013

image

Mary went to the Homecoming football game with her little friend who was cheering so Mary wore her cheerleader outfit too! Morgan and Elijah also went to the game with their friends. Since Morgan isn’t in High School he came home after the game while Elijah stayed for the dance. Several girls asked him to go to the dance even a mom called and asked Trey if Elijah would ask her daughter to go just as friends! He wasn’t going to go to the dance but who knows what changed his mind and we found out in the car on the way to the game that he was going to the dance too. Talk about last minute!!

Morgan’s Birthday

image

For Morgan’s Birthday we checked him out for lunch and he picked the Chinese Garden. We gave him his Birthday cards during lunch and then back to school he went to take some test. He had manicotti dinner and red velvet cake as requested for dinner. His other gifts were personal items he wanted like a Bacon candle and cinnamon roll candle from Yankee Candle Company, 100% grape juice, chocolate chip cookies, a zippo lighter and Camo jacket. Saturday morning Trey took him to the shooting range where he shot his guns and some others that were at the range. After shooting and shopping they had Gangis Grill for lunch and then a haircut and home. He was a very pleased boy and we are so glad he had such a good Birthday time!! Happy 14th Birthday Morgan we all love you so very much!!!

Check-Ups and Shots

image

Hanson had his check up and more vaccines this week. He was scheduled weeks ago but when I took him in on that day he was running fever and had ear infections. Poor baby! This time he was healthy and happy. He laid still for his measurements and for getting his vital signs. He even gave the nurses “high 5’s”!

image

image

He is looking great weighing in at 25.5 lbs at 16 months! After the doctor examination he got his vaccines which weren’t too horrible thanks to a lolli pop in his hand and some extras for later!

image

The next day I had to take our oldest baby boy (189 months!!!) in for some booster shots to update his blue form.

image

We were surprised he needed 3! He got 2 in one arm and 1 in the other just like baby Hans. Elijah did so well, he was a brave big brother and didn’t even need a lolli pop! So our youngest and oldest boys are current on all their shots!

Gone Fish’n

image

Poor Dad had no luck getting on a fishing trip in Mertyl Beach, SC .Come to find out there is no marina in Mertyl Beach, SC it’s in North Carolina! Sure would have been nice if the website had clarified that:( So Dad came back down to Charleston to get Mom and I on Friday so that we could go see The Good Vibrations Show at the Carolina Opry.

image

image

We stopped in Georgetown at a boat shop and the owner said he had a guy that he goes to church with who charters fishing trips. He called up Mr. Bub Mitchell who talked to Dad and just like that we had scheduled a half day trip for three for the next morning. Yeah for Dad!!!

We caught about 30 white mullet and croakers and some trash oyster fish. It was very windy the whole time but we kept on fishing. Our captain was wonderful, just the nicest guy you could ever meet. He’s retired and does charter trips 2-3 days a week but his real passion is turkey hunting then deer or elk hunting. I told him he and Trey would have a great time hunting and talking about hunting together. If you ever want to fish in Georgetown, SC we know the man to call.

We did have some surprise drama to the end of our trip from the friendly Coast Guard. Dad said he can’t go anywhere without being stopped by the Coast Guard! They were actually cordial compared to the ones on the MS Gulf Coast and our captain had all they were checking for so he got a gold star report! Whew! So glad for Captain Bub!

Andolini’s Pizza

image

I think we walked past Andolini’s a minimum of 10 times along our path to and from our B&B so we just had to go in and get a slice of New York style pie! They were voted best pizza for 19 years straight so we were pretty sure they would not disappoint us. Indeed it was as delicious as it smelled!

Walking Tour Day

image

We walked and walked and walked and then walked some more!! After breakfast we got our first walk on to get to the spot where we were to meet our Lowcountry Walking Tours guide, Bill. He was a very nice fella whose wife is originally from Homewood just down 280 from us and they honeymooned at our B&B!!! Anyways our guide was very knowledgeable on the authentic history as well as the inside scoop of life in  Charleston. He showed us and told us about so many buildings, homes, churches, parks, walls, slave auction houses, city, county and federal buildings of past and present. As well as prominent people living here. I do believe I am “Smarter than a 5th Grader” now on the history of Charleston aka Charlestown! We also saw “Aunt Charolett’s house” and the street and scene where “Gabriel” Heath Ledger waves and walks toward the home in the movie The Patriot. Pretty cool! Our tour was just over 2 hours long on the hottest day we’ve been here. We then walked on by ourselves to see Rainbow Row. I didn’t take any pictures of it because the parked cars and trees basically blocked the view so they wouldn’t do it justice but we did see them.

image

The Earthquake House formerly the  kitchen to a large home that is leaning greatly to the right. Ironically the home burned down and the kitchen survived, kitchens were built as separate buildings to avoid them from catching the whole house on fire.

Pink house believed to be the oldest if not second oldest building in Charleston.

The Hat Man

Just some views we took in then we walked along the Cooper River toward The Old Market and then cooled down with some delicious BLT and club sandwiches and drinks.

We then, you guest it walked some more browsing down King Street and finally waved down a free trolley and rode it till we needed to switch routes that eventually took us back to just blocks from our B&B. Whew!!! Do your feet hurt yet? Ours sure do but we are enjoying our time together as we venture out getting to see new things.

Wouldn’t you know these lovely lacrosse seersucker pants were too small for Trey and too big for either Elijah or Morgan! Sorry guys I tried!!!

Middleton Place

image

Today we toured Middleton Place gardens and plantation stable yards. It has been 15 years since I first saw this plantation when Trey and I and baby Elijah visited. It was quite a delight to see it again. Truly America’s Oldest Landscaped Gardens!

1837 Bed & Breakfast

image

The 1837 Bed & Breakfast on Wentworth Street is home sweet home for a few days. Enjoying my impromptu vacation with my Mom and Dad. I never would have thought I’d be vacationing with my parents, no husband, no children but due to my aunt getting too sick to make the trip with Mom and a very generous husband that said yes I’d love the trip, here I am!

We all slept well and enjoyed our morning coffee along with raspberry french toast, sausage and fruit.

image

image

We also enjoyed afternoon tea at 3 and then were off to shop King Street!!

image

I am so blessed!! Thank you Mom and Dad for an all expensive paid vacation to beautiful Charleston, SC and to my amazingly generous husband whose taking care of all 6 kiddos and working while I’m away!

Our newest addition

image

He is a red Beta fish that was gifted to us by a sweet family that is moving to South Carolina. They didn’t think PISH would be so happy about the move so they decided to keep him local. Turns out we went to the same church too. He got his name PISH because their sons couldn’t say fish. We think it’s just right so he will stay PISH. He is settling in nicely and is thoroughly entertaining our kiddos. Welcome to our loud busy family PISH!!!!
