After 14 months of growing we took Hanson for his very first haircut. We found a great barber shop that specialized in African-American styles and the lead barber was so great with Hans and with training his apprentice on how to handle the little ones. I was completely ready for the screaming, tears and tantrums that I just knew were coming but thanks to Daddy holding him and a Dum Dum lolly pop, Hanson did fine!
Always Mr. Original, Joseph has pestered me to get his hair cut so we could die it. Dye it, really? Yes, he wants it dark like dark brown to black. I vetoed the jet black hair and said we could do warm brown but completely black would be way too much of a dramatic change. So today we went for his cut then died his hair. He absolutely loves it, couldn’t be more pleased with himself and is oh so admiring his new look. I think he’s just as cute with a darker tone as he was as a dirty blonde. We’ll just have to see if this non-permanent color actually washes out in 28 shampoos!
This summer Trey, Elijah, Morgan, Joseph and I were treated by Pawpaw to a Deep Sea Fishing Trip in Venice, LA. It was an amazing adventure and such a great family time together. Grammy kept Jordan, Mary and Hans back in Long Beach and had lots of fun Grammy time at the park and beach. Hanson had been running fever the weekend before at the lacrosse tournament and we ended up taking him into a walk-in clinic to get him some relief. I was nervous he would be miserable but he quickly started feeling better once he started on an antibiotic and Grammy had no problem at all with him. The Venice crew went over the day before the fishing trip since it was quite a drive and we needed to be at the dock so early in the morning. We were all so excited to get on the boat and away we went!
While we had a great time together it was not a very successful fishing trip. None of the other boats caught much of anything either and it wasn’t for the lack of trying. We went to several spots, tried various ways but they just weren’t biting. So goes it on the seas! Success isn’t always measured in the amount of fish you put in your cooler but by the memories of time well spent with the ones you love; however, a cooler full of fish sure does make a great fish fry! Better luck next time!!!
After 4 to 5 trips to Lumber Liquidator and various other flooring stores we finally decided on some hard wood flooring and found an incredible 2 man team to demo and install them for us. Gone are the dog pee and vomit and burned spot on the carpet and the tile that always looked dirty and were brutal on anything dropped. We are loving our new floors! We moved all the furniture out prior to the installers coming so the kids got to eat a full meal on the carpet for the first and last time!
