Splash Adventure

image

We celebrated the end of school here at Splash Adventure on a surprisingly cool May day. We thought with all the advertising I saw on Facebook that the park would be packed but when we pulled through the gate we were shocked to see the parking lot nearly empty!

Yes it was a bit chilly and water much cooler than we prefer but the park was clean and virtually no waiting in lines at all which allowed for lots and lots of sliding fun.

“Certain is it that there is no kind of affection so purely angelic as of a father to a daughter. In love to our wives there is desire; to our sons, ambition, but to our daughters there is something which there are no words to express.”

Wind blown

Sometimes you just need to put your head out the window and feel the wind wisp through your hair!  Joseph wanted to see his wind-blown hair so we pulled over and he got a side view mirror look at it. He was pretty pleased with the look of his long locks!

Joseph’s Plan

image

It’s good for your children to plan ahead of time for things but I’m not so sure I’m ready for Joseph’s current plan for when he leaves home. Glad that he is preparing to be responsible by having insurance, helmet, goggles and always good to have atleast one pair of jeans and compression underwear.

Spring Concert and Jazz Band

DSC_0908

We went to Morgan’s last band concert for this year. Not only is he a fabulous saxophone player for the 7th grade band, but also performs with the Jazz Band.  He has worked so hard all year and plays wonderfully. He diligently attended 6:30 a.m. Jazz Band practices every Friday morning and maintained 1st chair for the majority of the year.  It was wonderful finally getting to hear him perform all the jazzy tunes! The entire band played beautifully at their concert too. They have definitely been taught well by their instructor.

Silly Desires

You might think baby boy brown sandals is a silly thing to have as a desire of one’s heart, but as a Mom of many children whom need clothed multiple times throughout a year sometimes it is as simple as sandals. I often pray before I go shopping especially when I’m searching for specific things. Clothing many children can be expensive but doesn’t have to if you are frugal and thrifty. For fun Hans and I went shopping, looking at a fine children’s clothing store which had lots of adorable things with outrageous prices. A baby boy swim trunks for $57, a t-shirt with design $46 (no shorts or socks or shoes or hat or sunglasses to go with it) just the t-shirt, romper $73 and so on. They had some really good quality shoes and sandals I loved for Hans, but again such high prices. I studied the name brands and then came home and checked eBay for the same items which were less than at the store but still over priced for my liking.

Today I took two large bags of baby and little boy cloths to Vapor Thrift Store which is my #1 favorite donation site. Whenever I give I then go in and shop.  I wasn’t looking for anything in particular just seeing what they had and back on the baby/toddler shoe shelf laid the current desire of my heart . . . the expensive baby boy brown leather sandals.  Not just some like or similar to or comparable to my desired ones, but the exact pair of Livie & Luca brown leather sandals! There at Vapor Thrift Store were the $56 brown leather sandals I wanted for Hans for a whopping $2!!!  God is so good to me. He knows my every desire and knows that I enjoy things all the more when I can get them on sale, clearance, tossed out or second hand.  I didn’t just get the Livie & Luca leather sandals, but also bought a pair of brown Velcro Stride Rite shoes ($3), grey/blue/red Velcro Stride Rite tennis shoes ($2) and a different style brown Stride Rite sandal ($2) which is a size larger than the Livie and Luca ones. All of them look great with plenty of wear left in them and I can’t wait for Hanson to wear them. God gave me at least $188 worth of baby boy shoes for $9! How awesome is that!

God wants every bit of us and for us to come to Him in prayer and petition not only for Salvation of others, orphan’s to find forever families, an end to sex trafficking, abolishing abortion, for job security, for our homes, for spouses, for children, against sickness and evil and so on, but even for suchtiny things as baby boy brown leather sandals.  Thank you Lord!

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6 (NIV)
