Designer Tees

While in Fredericksburg for Thanksgiving Jordan, Mary and Joseph all made t-shirts with Mammaw.  They first worked out their designs on paper with crayons and then one by one they created their designer t-shirts with Mammaw. They had quite a time doing them and were so pleased with their individual custom designs. Mary’s said “Best Horse Girl”, Joseph was “Artist” and Jordan a colorful geometric design.

Club Tombstone

At Pawpaw and Mammaw’s house in Fredericksburg,TX the children have an incredible “Fort” where they love to play.  It’s really just a bunch of scrap fencing, tires, pipes, wire, wood and this and that which was left by the previous owner, but to a bunch of creative, energetic kids that trash is treasure.  It lies on the back of their property under some low-lying limbs where adults must duck down to enter.  Whenever the kids visit they always add to it and tweak it a bit.  They have loads of fun at Club Tombstone!!!

Gadsden State

DSC_1027

Morgan and I were able to have a short getaway together when he went to Gadsden State for a band clinic.  The festival or clinic consisted of try outs early Friday evening so they could place you into one of two bands then onto learning new songs until 9:30 that night. Morgan made 2nd chair saxaphone. Saturdays schedule started at 8:30a.m. for practice, lunch break at a local pizza shop then back to practice some more till 2:30p.m.  Morgan rode up with another band member on Friday. We were going to drive up and get him and then drive back again Saturday morning, but after doing some quick gas prices math and a hotel search Trey was able to get a great price on a hotel so that we could spend the night Friday and not have to wake up soooo early to drive back.  Morgan was really excited when I drove into the hotel parking lot and told him we were not driving all the way back home, we had a room.

After Saturdays afternoon session we went a did a quick photo shoot and then saw Skyfall, the new James Bond movie. Unfortunately the movie went a bit longer than we expected and had to literally run out on the ending to get back to the college for the 6:00p.m. band concert. Morgan had to change into his uniform in the car while I sped back to the music hall.  He got there right on time for when he needed to be on stage so no foul. I suppose we both get to see the movie again so that we can actually see how it ends.

Czesc Polska! Jak sie masz?

Whenever our kids get mail it’s pretty exciting but

When Mary gets a special delivery all the way from Poland the excitement escalates!

Mary came home from school to find her beloved Poland Package full of Birthday gifts!!!

She couldn’t wait to tear into her package, but first she had a fun time feeling the outside of it and guessing what might be in it!

As you can see she was thrilled with all her gifts!  She really enjoyed her huge Poland chocolate bar and other sweets as did the boys!

She had guessed cloths in the package and was delighted by her new shirt in her favorite Pink color and in English too. She was so giddy with her new rings and bracelet and pink pen too!

Her fluffy Shnooks was a big hit a perfect gift for this little girl!

Not only did she receive a lot of special gifts but also cards with tender notes to her and an extra special one from Klaudia, a little girl who was once cared for in the same home as Mary that now also has a family in Poland.  Klaudia wrote her a letter in hopes to be pen-pals.  I have a few pictures of Klaudia and Mary that we will print and send to Klaudia when Mary writes her. I believe the two of them had a special relationship and I am sure she is one of the girls who Mary is referring to when she talks about her “sisters” in Poland.  Klaudia is older than Mary and can share memories with Mary that she may have forgotten. What a treasured connection to Poland.

Dziekuje Widlo! Do widzenia!!!

Pumpkin Patch

I was desperate to get some Fall pictures of my whole gang and so after church I held hostage  took the kids to a small pumpkin patch at a little church to get a few shots. It was sooo windy as you can tell by their crazy hair in a few and by poor little Hans puckered lips and serious brows!  It was a meager pumpkin patch but I’m glad to have gotten these shots without having to drive so far to get them. I love pumpkin patch pictures!!!!
