We sure did get our fill of Trunk or Treating this year!! After TT2 we headed over to our friends, The Hydes church to visit and play with them. Their Trunk or Treat was huge with all kinds of carnival rides, games and inflatables. I stood in line a LONG time while they ran to and from inflatables so that they could each get a turn on the bungee jump. It was so funny the whole line was full of parents holding a space for their kiddos. One of their favorites was crawling through the inflatable whale like Jonah and the whale! They had a great fun but by the time we left we were all chilled to the bone and ready for some hot soup and cider!
Every Monday night is Dairy Queen night and has been for 2 years now. There have been several employees come and go including the wonderful manager, Mr. Carl, but two special DQ ladies are still there and look forward to seeing our family as much as we enjoy seeing them. Mrs. Mary and our Mary have a special relationship sharing the same name. Many times she is already putting in our order even before we get up to the register, she knows us that well! Mrs. Mary is also a lunch lady at the High School so Elijah gets to see her everyday. All the kids make a point to give some love and hugs to Mrs. Mary on Monday night. Mrs. Esther is on the ice cream line making all the cones, Blizzards, milk shakes, etc. and from time to time there are “mistakes, misorders” that happen where we get the larger size of what we ordered or an extra of something because it would otherwise be thrown away! Mrs. Esther is a very sweet lady to us and we enjoy loving on her as well. Trey usually smokes brisket on certain Holidays and does extra to take up to Mrs. Esther and Mrs. Mary. We are blessed to have them as our extended family here in AL. We celebrated Mary’s 8th Birthday at DQ with our DQ family along with the Millers, Woods and Hydes Family and 3 other neighborhood friends. Mary loved it and she was blessed with many presents and cash!! She declared, “I’m Rich!!!” and we all agreed. Happy 8th Birthday sweet girl!!!!
Yesterday we went to another small Trunk or Treat at the park. It was very small and more suited toward preschool and under so we hung around long enough for ours to bob for apples and get their stuffed animals, candy and play on the playground. It was a beautiful day but so windy! The temperature was dropping fast! Everyone loved Hans in his pumpkin costume, I loved it being a cozy warm one for him. Mary went as a Cowgirl and won a pony, Joseph was dressed for the cool weather as a snow boarder and Jordan as Marty from Madagascar3 and boy was he ever happy to win a Penguin!!!
We enjoyed some Fall fun this weekend while Grammy and Pawpaw were here. We went to Tannehill State Park’s Trades Day. While we had a good time it was completely NOT what we thought it would be! Basically is was an oversized yard sale/flea market. Morgan went to Troy and was playing on the field with the band so he wasn’t with us. That evening we went to a Trunk or Treat that we’ve attended at least 2 other years and the kids had a blast! They always love playing the carnival type games and jumping on all the inflatables. I love the whole family friendly atmosphere of the Biblical themed games and prizes and that we don’t have to pay for every single child for every single game, face paint, balloon animal, cotton candy, snow cones or jumpers$$$$$! Mary went as a Cowgirl, Jordan as a Ninja and Joseph had made his costume but then took off his mask to get his face painted and decided he would then be Edward Scissor Hands and Hans was his adorable self in his smocked turkey outfit.
Wow our baby boy is 4 months old!!!! We are enjoying him so much each and every day. He is still the best nighttime sleeper ever! He will sleep till 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. He drinks about 26oz-30oz of formula a day. He has had a couple bowls of rice cereal and does pretty well with the whole tongue and swallowing thing. He weighs 19 lbs and is 29 inches long. He is a big boy! He drules a ton as he teeths on his hands. We’ve given him several teethers but his hands or our fingers are his favorite. He is absolutely the happiest baby always ready with a smile. We’ve gotten him to chuckle a couple of times which then sends us into laughter which makes him chuckle more, it’s adorable! He wants to sit up more now which he does with pillows and the bumpo seat. He does not like being in the infant car seat or in the swing for too long. He loves being held outside on the front porch swing and is spending more time playing on his tummy. He “talks” constantly and really loud with high-pitched squeals! He is just so sweet!!!!
Last night was the beginning of a new era in our home, dances and dates. In accordance with the “Mother-Teenage-Son Compact”, I’m not allowed to elaborate about the going ons of the event so as to not embarrass or humiliate the budding confidence and reputation of said son. I’ve been warned he has a lawyer. So I suppose I can say, “It was nice”. Daddy on the other hand was given free range to be as funny as he wanted because according to Elijah the young lady he was taking out was “Super cool”.
Here’s Trey keeping the mood fun and easy right before we leave to go pick up Elijah’s date. I could never get away with this!
Before picking up his date we ran into the store for a new black belt and then picked up her corsage we had ordered.
We weren’t sure if we were suppose to come up with him or not to meet her parents so we hung back a bit as he waited for his date to come to the door. This is our first go at all this. We met his dates Mom and had a really nice time talking with her and discussing the fact that it seemed so strange to be taking the kids to the dance at 9:30 p.m; seems like we should be picking them up to come home! She admitted she didn’t believe her daughter when she told her it started so late after the football game, we all had a good laugh at that. We Mama’s took lots of pictures of course. Her Dad was on his way home from a business trip so he wasn’t there, but would pick them up from the dance so that he could meet Elijah then and see his little girl all dressed up. It was nice meeting sweet S****ah, she was so beautiful in her purple dress and heels. Without saying too much and jeopardizing the publishing of this post, in my opinion they made a cute couple. Her Mom said S is a true cowgirl and Tae Kwan Do instructor but she cleans up real nice! Indeed she does such a pretty girl. She bought Elijah’s tie to match her dress and then he paid her back. It is a sharp-looking tie and only $5!!! It was then I knew I liked this girl, thrifty shopper!!!
