Hans is 14 lbs and 24 inches long

He distinctly pulls back both pointer fingers and sticks his other fingers out stiffly

He likes to play with his hair, he has even pulled his own hair a time or two causing a great fuss

He gets hiccups daily

He tolerates his baths

He eats well 4-6 oz each feeding and likes it warm actually just shy of hot

He is starting to coo

He is a wonderful baby we just all adore!

Baby Beach portraits

I am so happy I was able to get a few good shots of Hans on the Pass Christian beach while we were down a few weekends ago. I had originally planned on taking pictures of the whole gang but opted to only do Hans and to do the whole gang once he has more head control and is sitting up by himself.  It is really hard to work in a full photo shoot when we are down for a quick visit anyways.

Rock City, Ruby Falls, Look Out Mountain and more

Our unexpected Chattanooga mini-vacation continued as we took the scenic route home.  We stopped by Rock City, let everyone stretch their legs and burn off some energy at a playground where we played frisbee, visited Ruby Falls and a Civil War museum and took in the views at Look Out Mountain, GA.

Chattanooga

We set out toward Chattanooga, TN in high hope so that Elijah could play in the Chattanooga Challenge Lacrosse Tournament.  He wasn’t scheduled to play his first game until 3pm so instead of spending the night there Friday night we just headed up Saturday morning. On the way up it began to storm fiercely and so we arrived at the hotel in torrential rainfall.  The lobby was packed with parents and players from all over the South East and we soon learned ALL of the days games were cancelled due to flooded (up to your knees) fields and lightning.  We ended up checking into our room only to find out later in the day that even Sundays games were cancelled for everyone except the high school teams.  We were so disappointed and felt awful for Elijah since he had trained so hard all summer long (practice 4 days a week plus running in the neighborhood) to play in 2 tournaments and didn’t get to play in any. He got really sick the day before the first tournament so he was out of that one and now this one was cancelled.

We ended just making the best out of being in such a fun city and so we got an unexpected mini vacation out of the weekend.  I had no idea we lived just 2 hours or less away from Chattanooga so we hope to go back every now and then for a fun day trip. Elijah and Morgan went off with several team mates and Dads for lunch and to watch the new Batman movie while Trey and I headed out with the 4 little kids.

Fun time on the electric bus

Jordan, Joseph and Mary loved getting to pick out their meat, veggies, rice, noodles and sauce and watching the chefs cook their food on the giant skillet.

We had a great time walking around the art district and seeing the sculptures and statues and really neat homes along the Tennessee River. The kids loved this blue iron and wood bridge. Joseph would have climbed to the top if we hadn’t insisted that he come down!  Morgan took liberty in mimicking a statue and Jordan had us all nearly curled up on the ground laughing so hard at his comments and antics about the statue in the buff!!!! It was definitely a had to be there moment!

Pool time is always #1 Priority!

Super Girl!

Mary is quite a Super Girl indeed! She is enjoying her reign as Big Sister to Hans. She is only 5 months older than Jordan and they are in the same grade so she really doesn’t have the joy of being Jordan’s BIG sister like she does with baby Hans. While having a baby in the house is fun for her she is a bit bummed out that he doesn’t actually do much. She keeps asking me “when is he going to grow up?” I think once he can sit up by himself and smile and laugh then he will be more fun for her to play with. She really wants to hold his hand and lead him around the house having him do as she says being his little Mama.

Mary brought down her doll stroller for Hans to ride in saying he would fit which he did.  She settled for him sitting in it and a quick photo shoot!

Bike Rodeo

Joseph and Jordan’s Pack had a fun Bike Rodeo for Cubs and siblings the other night. There were 5 different stations to show off their biking skills and cookies and drinks to reenergize afterwards along with a Bike Safety lesson to complete their Biking patch or belt loop.

Everyone was super impressed with Jordan and commented that you can tell the ones who have older brothers because they always outshine in the events.

Mary was whipping through the cones like a mad lady but couldn’t quite get the idea of having to stop quickly.

I thought Jordan and Joseph did really well in their events. I know I’m bias being their Mama and all, but when it was prize time guess who the winners were?!

Boo yah . . . The Garrett Brothers!!!! 1st place-Jordan and 2nd place-Joseph at Pack 617 Bike Rodeo!!!!
