Jordan’s Birthday was so much fun this year. We had Grammy and Pawpaw from MS in town and had a few close friends join us for presents, cupcakes and singing. I truely enjoyed this party all because Jordan had the sweetest heart the whole time and was so excited and giddy with everything. He kept saying “Oh I love my purple cupcake Backyardigans Birthday!!” “I love my birthday” “Purple’s my favorite color oh I love purple!” He would throw his hands in the air and proclaim “Thank you thank you for my purple Birthday!!!” It was so so funny and just warmed my heart so much. When it came to singing “Happy Birthday” we all belted out the tune but were halted by Jordan cringing with his hands on his ears and crying “Too loud!!” at which everyone quickly ceased singing while I comforted him and then we all Whispered the song to him to his delight! What a funny boy. Oh Happy 4th Birthday my Backyardigans purple loving boy!!!!!!
Soccer is in full swing with Joseph being the only one playing this season as Elijah is back into baseball and Morgan is taking piano. They just all finished Upward’s basketball and all had a great time! Sports R Us!!!
So lately I have been having these sincere request and conversations with Mary about her needing a sister. This is her request, not mine. Her plead goes something like this:
Mary: “Mommy when are the girls coming to my house?”
Me: “What girls?”
Mary: “My sisters, I need girls. Girls are nice to me and they play with me.”
Me: “Jordan plays with you, Morgan plays with you.”
Mary: “No, I don’t like da boys. They no play nice to me.”
Mary: “I need a glla (girl) gigi (baby), I be nice be good to gigi.”
Me: “Well maybe we could get a boy baby?” I say this to see if she just wants any baby.
Mary: (with fallen face) “No, I don’t want boys I need gllas, gllas nicee!!”
So one day she caught me looking at children from an orphanage in Thailand and she scurried into my lap and was overwhelmed and just so excited with all the pictures of little girls. There were so many and she kept pointing to this one and that one saying “I want that sister, I want that girl, oh I need that girl, Mommy can we get 2 girls, oh Mommy!”. It was really so sweet and so heart tugging. The Thai people are stunning and I could understand her desire to have a sweet little girl from there. We kept scrolling through the photos and I would enlarge the ones she picked out and we would talk all about the new little girl or group of girls in the photo each time. She said, “They no have a Mommy a Daddy they cry, cry, cry!” . “They so sad they cry they need Mommy.” I asked her if she cried when she didn’t have a Mommy and without taking her eyes off the screen shook her head ‘yes’ and hugged my arm so tight and said “I like my Mommy”. Whew, what a deep conversation. Why was I so upset with her earlier today? Hmmm.
These two have been begging for some Play Doh time and so on this gorgeous day they got their wish playing on the back deck. They love it and played with bubbles too. They love cutting, rolling, squishing the play doh over and over and over again.
This weekend we had the oddest weather. Friday we had a tornado touch down here in Chelsea. It hit a gas station, no injuries reported. Saturday it rained on and off and temp. began falling. Sunday we awoke to a white day of SNOW!! The kids loved it. Morgan was the first to discover it and was out the door as fast as he could go. They played several times throughout the day. It was real nice fluffy snow, not just slush and ice like last years small amount. We all had lots of fun enjoying this winter prize. Grammy drove up on Friday to surprise the boys for their last Upwards basketball game. They were thrilled!! Mary and Jordan were on her lap most of the time. Of course she brought boxes of gummies and Girl Scout cookies we bought from cousin Ashleigh. We had a busy weekend. Friday night Trey,Grammy, Morgan and Elijah went to the AL Symphony to hear Jazz performance. Morgan got tickets from his music teacher. He is learning all about Jazz, Blues and will be performing them for the Spring chorale. He really enjoys being on the choir team. I stayed home with the 3 younger ones for playing and movie night. Saturday we had 3 basketball games and I took Mary and Jordan to a Princess B-day party (I’ll post those pictures later). We also went to support some guys in our youth group at a battle of the bands. We went to the book store and all came home with something new. Mary and Jordan got new Spring/summer shoes from Grammy. Grammy kept the kids Saturday night so Trey and I could have an evening out. Sunday was a SNOW day, YEAH!!! We went to church and Grammy headed back to MS early figuring she would have to drive much slower due to weather. We ate Brunswick stew and grilled cheeses at local restaurant then home to clean house and get ready for Life Group. Little ones napped as did Trey. I took 3 Upward boys to Awards night for Upwards. They had a Christian magician perform and he called me on stage for trick. The boys loved this and yelled out “That’s my MOMMY!” The magician was really good and had a great message with his tricks. Boys got new Upward backpacks and then we were off to home again to join Life Group. Home with Group. Joseph got pushed or pulled or something at bottom of stairs and ended up with puncture to head and lots of flowing blood. It looked much worse than it actually was but it really shook up our poor sweet babysitter. The kids were wild last night , we just blamed it on the snow. Group went home. We did mass family prayer in family room then kids went to bed and Trey to office for hours of work before leaving to Nashville this morning. Just another active Garrett weekend. Tonight Joseph has soccer practice and Elijah baseball practice. I have lots of snow pictures so I’ll post them in 2 post.
